Position Overview:
The Director/Communications & Public Relations is responsible for planning and directing Accuride Corporation's enterprise-wide communications strategies and their tactical execution. This includes all internal and external communications, encompassing employee communications; trade, local and financial media relations; marketing communications, public affairs/government relations, and community relations / corporate contributions. This position manages these initiatives to enhance the company’s reputation and brand positioning by maintaining mutually beneficial relationships with key Accuride stakeholders (associates, customers, suppliers, news media, government officials and community leaders) by responding to their needs and interests while building an effective shared understanding of Accuride’s strategies, key initiatives, vision, mission, values and investment case. The Director/Communications & Public Relations supports the Accuride Sales & Marketing organization’s key initiatives, including product launches, marketing initiatives and programs, etc. through brand management and integrated marketing communications programs. In addition, the Director will establish and maintain ongoing contact between the company and the local and state government officials in the regions in which the company operates (including support of economic development actions to benefit the company), as well as manage the company’s community relations, associate involvement and corporate contributions programs.

Required Skills, Education, and Experience



  • Proven strategic communications planning expertise.
  • Ability to plan, manage, and develop corporate image and public relations programs across countries and cultures in order to raise public awareness of the company and safeguard its brand reputation.
  • Ability to plan, manage, and develop strategic corporate and associate communications programs.
  • Demonstrated track record of conducting successful, proactive communications programs that employ creativity and use of a variety of tools, forums, and media; understanding of current communications mechanisms, including social media.
  • Proven experience and capability for crisis management and mergers & acquisitions support.
  • Ability to work in close collaboration with all levels of associates, senior management, and outside agencies and service providers.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and thrive in a fast-paced, unpredictable environment.
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently in cross-functional teams.
  • Superior business writing and editing skills.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Basic understanding of effective sales & marketing practices.
  • Basic understanding of government relations practices at the federal, state and local level.
  • Articulate, with excellent interpersonal and oral communication skills.
  • Thorough understanding of journalistic (AP) style.
  • Willingness to travel as needed in order to fulfill the position’s responsibilities.


  • Undergraduate or graduate degree in communications, public relations or related field.
  • Membership in Communications professional society (PRSA, IABC) preferred.


  • A minimum of 5 years of managerial experience in a corporate, consultancy or government communications capacity is required. The incumbent’s experience should include managing communications on a regional or global basis for a diverse range of audiences, from business leadership and salaried staff members to customers, suppliers, community leaders, government officials and plant-floor associates.
