Continuous Improvement Engineer

This position has the responsibilities for improving / validating the effectiveness of production, and transformation processes.  It is responsible for: designing and implementing systems and processes to eliminate waste and drive reduced costs to meet both internal and customer requirements.

This position is the Champion of the Plant’s Continuous Improvement system, including assisting the plant organization in cost improvements and manufacturing process improvements.  Particular emphasis placed on systems design, waste control, controllable costs, inventory, and productivity objectives.

 

Principal Accountabilities

 

  1. Working with the Senior Management Team, develop, set the pace and implement business transformational and continuous improvement strategy with sensitivity towards the organizational structure, commercial approach, culture, people and processes. 
  2. Responsible for the successful management and implementation of business improvement projects/initiatives across the business by developing an enthusiastic, motivated and flexible team and building working relationships ensuring that Health, Safety and Environmental requirements are adhered to
  3. Use problem solving and continuous improvement methodologies to improve productivity, quality, safety, and cost reduction.
  4. Define, develop and publish business improvement process documentation to reflect best practices
  5. Undertake business process analysis, statistical analysis for improvement projects and to support wider change
  6. Lead, define and develop continuous improvement activities designed to improve performance, such as the planning and running of lean events. Provide project management, analytical and research skills and expertise
  7. Develop, implement and manage key performance indicators (KPIs) for each area of responsibility
  8. Ensure KPIs are met by working to the overall plan, including management of, and reporting Financial and Budget Control

 

Required Skills, Education, and Experience

 

  • B.S. Degree in a Technical Field
  • Good communication, interpersonal, and interaction skills for position effectiveness when interacting internally with personnel at all levels, external customers, suppliers and vendors. 
  • Good written communication skill to effectively develop policies and instructional material, report on progress, and respond to issues.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Applications.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in manufacturing and quality processes to design, implement and coordinate quality and manufacturing processes.
  • Must have good analytical and decision-making skills.
  • Must have excellent leadership, communication and interpersonal skills.
